Endurance Technologies is set to commission its expanded anti-lock braking system (ABS) production capacity by September 2026 as the company prepares for rising adoption of vehicle safety technologies in India’s two-wheeler market.
The company is adding annual production capacity of 12 lakh ABS units to its existing installed capacity of 6.4 lakh units, taking the total yearly capacity to 18.4 lakh units. ABS technology prevents wheel lock during sudden braking, improving rider stability and reducing accident risks, especially on slippery or uneven roads.
At present, ABS is mandatory mainly for higher-engine-capacity motorcycles, while smaller two-wheelers generally use combined braking systems. The expansion comes in line with the government’s draft proposal issued in June 2025 to extend mandatory ABS requirements to lower-engine-capacity two-wheelers. Under the proposed regulations, all two-wheelers manufactured from January 1, 2026, would be required to feature ABS.
